Y diwydiant hedfan yw'r sector cynharaf i ddatblygu a chymhwyso aloion titaniwm a thitaniwm Gr9. Heb ditaniwm mewn awyrennau a pheiriannau, byddai bron yn amhosibl adeiladu awyrennau uwchsonig ym Mach 2.7.
